ORIGIN
a vision born in the diamond fields of orapa
In the heart of Botswana lies Orapa, the country’s diamond capital. Home to the world’s largest diamond mine by surface area, Orapa produces an average of ten million carats each year. Discovered in 1967 and brought into production in 1971, the mine transformed what was once a quiet settlement into one of the most important diamond-producing regions on earth. It shaped the local economy and established Botswana as one of the world’s most respected sources of natural diamonds.
The name Orapa means “the resting place of lions.” It is also the town where our founder, Nigel, was raised. Surrounded by the rhythm of industry, engineering, and earth’s most precious materials, Orapa became the birthplace of the Maison’s vision. Here, the idea of transforming raw elements into objects of timeless value was not abstract; it was part of everyday life.
That spirit remains at the heart of the Maison today. The industrial precision of Orapa, its culture of exacting standards, and its respect for material integrity continue to shape our creations. Each timepiece reflects the same principles that define the place where the vision began: flawed beauty, warmth, and uncompromising savoir-faire.

This Maison is, in many ways, a gift to my father. A tribute to the love, discipline, and entrepreneurial spirit that shaped my life.
In the late 1990s, he left his home in Zimbabwe and moved to Botswana in pursuit of opportunity. Trained as a boilermaker, he devoted himself to mastering his craft. His journey eventually brought him to Orapa, where his attention to detail, design, and natural creativity became evident. What began as a trade soon evolved into something greater, where his vision led him to become a successful entrepreneur in the construction industry.
Growing up around this environment left a lasting impression. Precision. Craft. And above all, the origin of things mattered. Creating the foundation for Maison Amahle. Our respect for provenance, understanding where materials come from, who works with them, and the journey they take stems from these early observations. Real luxury is built on clarity, craftsmanship, and honouring the source of what we create. The value of a beautiful thing begins not when it is finished, but where it comes from.

founder’s conviction
I am not a watchmaker. An engineer. Or even a designer by training.
Above all, I am a child of God. Jesus Christ is my true north.
When I was 16, the Lord placed a desire in my heart to create watches. At 19, I boarded a one-way flight from Botswana to Switzerland with little more than a dream. My Bachelor’s in Digital Business Innovation & Design from EU Business School, followed by a Master’s in Global Luxury Brand Management at CREA Geneva. Needless to say, my path into horology has been anything but conventional. But as a wise woman once said, sometimes you have to jump without a parachute and build it on the way down.
I owe so much to the countless friends, mentors, and family members who believed in this vision. The House simply wouldn’t exist without them. My life is a testament to God’s goodness. By His grace, a decade after receiving that initial vision, the seed He planted has grown into what you see today.
“He has made everything beautiful in its time.” Even when a season feels uncertain or hard to understand, there is quiet intention behind it. The hands that created time itself are the very hands shaping our journey through it.
This truth is the foundation of Amahle. An isiNdebele name meaning “the beautiful one.” It stands as a reminder that every season of life, no matter how complex, is being woven into something purposeful. The One who crafted time is also the One who perfects it, and His plans will always outshine the ones we make for ourselves.
